Kingston English Country Dance

The Kingston English country dance series is located at the South Kingstown Land Trust, 17 Matunuck Beach Road, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, right off of US Route 1. The Land Trust "barn," as it's sometimes called, is a lovely cedar-shingled gambrel-roof hall, with a hardwood floor, wood paneling throughout, and lots of understated elegance and rustic charm. It's about a mile from the shore, and, if the wind is right, you can smell the ocean.

Rhode Island's English country dance began in September of 2003 with guest musicians and callers from around the Northeast. At the very first dance, hardly anyone had ever done English dancing, but, over the years, we've developed a substantial core-group of experienced dancers, and our callers and musicians, who travel to a wide variety of venues, have remarked that our dance is particularly friendly and welcoming to newcomers.

In the tradition of country dancing, there are no dues to be paid, no lessons to be taken, no prerequisites to be met. All dances are taught and easy to learn. Newcomers are always welcome, with or without a partner. We're looking forward to dancing with you!
